The Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund was established in 2006 by Louise Tillotson. Neil and Louise Tillotson were world travelers and, at the same time, fiercely passionate about the North Country, especially their beloved Dixville Notch and the surrounding communities of Colebrook, Clarksville, Stewartstown and Pittsburg. The fund seeks to carry on this legacy through grantmaking that supports local community efforts as well as broad-based initiatives which link the North Country to the wider region and the global economy.
The Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund is guided by an advisory committee and supports activities in New Hampshire’s Coos County and neighboring communities in Vermont, Maine and Quebec. The fund’s vision is to “serve as a catalyst to help the North Country move from decades of managing slow decline toward sustainable development."
Since 2006 fund has distributed nearly $10 million.
Beyond grantmaking, the fund also supports the annual Coos Symposium, a Grantee Learning Community, and Tracking Changes in the North Country research led by the Carsey Institute at the University of New Hampshire. In 2009, the fund launched support for two North Country strategies, one for Early Childhood Development and another for Entrepreneurship and Business Development.
