The Granite State News Collaborative (GSNC), in partnership with the New England Newspaper and Press Association’s First Amendment Committee, has launched Know Your News, a region-wide public education campaign that kicked off on Constitution Day, Sept. 17, 2025.
This month-long series of stories and social media content explores why the First Amendment, press freedom, and local journalism matter in everyday life. From explaining how right-to-know laws affect your wallet, to why open meetings keep democracy strong, these stories are designed to give readers the tools to better understand and defend their rights.
But this isn’t just about reading the news—it’s about sharing it. One of the most powerful ways to amplify trusted local news is to pass it along to friends, family, and your community. Every share helps combat misinformation, spread reliable information, and reinforce why local news and press freedom matter in our daily lives.
The Granite State News Collaborative invites you to: sign up for our newsletter and keep an eye on your email for the stories in our newsletter in the coming months, seek out these stories in your local outlets and social media and help spread the word. Together, we can strengthen the foundation of an informed democracy—one story at a time.
