New Hampshire Charitable Foundation announces five scholarship recipients for the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund

The Bill and Esther Levy Scholarships support students from A. Crosby Kennett High School in Conway — awarding $75,000 for scholarships in 2017.

CONCORD, NH (PRESS RELEASE) – The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017 scholarship recipients for the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund. They are: Thomas Bergen, North Conway; Cassidy Daigle, Conway; Emma Hurteau, Albany; Gianna Jones, Bartlett; and Michael Welch, Freedom.

In addition to the new recipients, the fund will continue to support 14 other students previously selected for up to four years of their post-secondary education.

A total of $75,000 was awarded for scholarships in 2017. The Levy Scholarships have been awarded since 2004 — to date nearly $1 million has been committed to supporting more than 75 deserving area students.

The Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by the Pequawket Foundation from a legacy received from the Levy estate.

The Levys were interested in supporting students whose family resources might prevent them from attending college. While awards are primarily based on financial need, merit factors including academic work, extracurricular activities, community and volunteer activities, and work experience are also taken into consideration.

Each year the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Advisory Committee reviews applications from qualified graduating seniors from Kennett High School. Recipients are supported for up to four years of an undergraduate academic program.

Information about applying for the Levy Scholarship is available on the Foundation’s website at www.nhcf.org/scholarships. Applications will again be accepted after February 1, 2018.
