Hannah Campbell joins Charitable Foundation as director of Tillotson Funds

Campbell will oversee the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund, which invests in the people and organizations of the North Country. She will also provide leadership for the broader family of Tillotson funds administered by the Foundation.

Hannah Campbell of Colebrook has joined the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation as director of the Tillotson family of funds — including the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund, which invests in the people and organizations of Coös County, New Hampshire and Coaticook, Québec and bordering communities in Maine and Vermont. Campbell succeeds Sonya Salanti of Bethlehem who had led the Tillotson funds since 2020.

In her role, Campbell will oversee the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund’s grantmaking and community initiatives, working closely with local advisors, nonprofit partners and community members to strengthen the region’s well-being. She will also provide leadership for the broader family of Tillotson funds administered by the Foundation, including the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship, the Neil and Louise Tillotson Scholarship Fund, the Coaticook Region Fund, the Hereford Forest Fund, the Dixville Cemetery Fund and the Tillotson Guatemala Fund.

Campbell joins the Foundation from The Balsams Resort Redevelopment, where she served as vice president for project development. She has also worked in the wood pellet industry, as a high school mathematics teacher and as an Air Force officer managing logistics operations in Europe. Campbell was a director and advisory council co-chair of the Coös Economic Development Corporation, which promotes economic opportunity and business development in Coös County. She was named 2023 Volunteer of the Year by the North Country Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund Advisory Committee since 2023.

“Having grown up in the North Country, I have a deep appreciation for both its challenges and possibilities,” Cambell said. “I am humbled and thrilled to have the ability to channel my passion for this place and my experience into this work. I’m excited to continue the good work of the Tillotson Funds to strive for lasting, positive impacts for our communities and people.”

Campbell was hired after a nationwide search. Beth Newhouse of Gorham and chair of the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund Advisory Committee served on the search committee.

“We are thrilled to have Hannah as the new Director of Tillotson Funds,” said Newhouse. “Her knowledge of and commitment to the North Country and the relationships she has established with people and organizations in the region make her an excellent choice for the position.  We look forward to working with her to continue advancing the vision of the Tillotson Funds.”

Neil Tillotson, who died in 2001 at the age of 102, left the bulk of his estate for charitable purposes. In 2006, his wife, Louise Tillotson, established the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to continue their commitment to strengthening rural communities. The Tillotson Fund, one of the largest rural philanthropies in the United States, invests in the people and organizations of Coös County, New Hampshire, and neighboring communities in Vermont, Maine and Coaticook, Québec. The Tillotson Fund awards more than $5 million annually and has distributed nearly $74 million since 2006.
