Pride Month celebrated with events around the state

From Nashua to the White Mountains, Pride events honor and celebrate LGBTQ+ rights.

This LGBTQ+ Pride Month, the Charitable Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of events across the state to honor and celebrate the occasion.

Portsmouth Pride, New Hampshire’s longest-running and largest Pride event, features a community parade that has become a Seacoast tradition. The parade will leave from Market Square on June 22 at noon, and will be followed by a celebration at Strawbery Banke featuring food trucks, vendors, music and family activities. Additional June events on the Seacoast include a Pride garden party at the Sarah Orne Jewett House, a drag brunch, networking events, an art exhibit opening, a Pride Shabbat service and more.

“We are really looking forward to Pride this year,” said Rev. Heidi Carrington Heath, executive director of Seacoast Outright, which organizes Portsmouth Pride. “It has never felt more important to be in joyful spaces that celebrate our community.” (Read a Q&A with Rev. Heath about the work of Seacoast Outright, the urgency of the moment and the “discipline of hope” here.)

Pride events are scheduled in towns and cities large and small through the month of June – and beyond.

White Mountains Pride will be Saturday, June 29 in North Conway, with entertainment, food trucks, family activities and more.

Organizers of the Nashua Pride Festival have been encouraging people to decorate their lawns with “Nashua Pride” signs. The city-sponsored event is a free celebration of diversity, acceptance, music and fun focused on promoting equality and inclusion of all people. The festival includes a parade, vendors, food and more.

Manchester Pride this year includes a Pride Unity Gala on May 31, a Pride Night at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats game on June 11, and the Manchester Pride parade and festival on June 15. The parade will start at the Brady Sullivan Tower on Elm Street at 11:15 and end at the festival site in Veterans Memorial Park.

Capital City Pride has events scheduled in Concord during the month of July, including a community art installation, family picnic, youth tea party, crafts and a Pride after-party.

Keene Pride has a full schedule of events taking place in September.
