New Hampshire Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund awards announced

Fund of the Governor's Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery awards nearly $40 million to 496 New Hampshire nonprofits.

On Thursday, August 13, the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery (GOFERR) announced the New Hampshire Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund awards.

There were 496 awards granted to New Hampshire nonprofit, 501c3 organizations totaling $39,792,601.

Information on the fund, including a full list of organizations who received awards, is available on the GOFERR website.

The New Hampshire Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund was established by Governor Chris Sununu through the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery. The State of New Hampshire awarded grants from the allocated $60 million to help nonprofit organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority partnered to administer this program. The application period was open from June 11 to June 25, 2020.

Following intensive review by the three partners, in addition to review and adjustments by GOFERR, the Governor approved the final grants at 75 percent of the recommended eligible amount, up to a maximum of $1 million per award. In a press release, GOFERR explained that the award amount is designed to ensure nonprofits awards have parity when compared to other GOFERR programs that have only covered a percentage of eligible requests, while also retaining part of the overall allocation for future needs.

All applicants to the New Hampshire Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund were notified this week by email from the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority.

Leading with respect, dignity and compassion for people experiencing homelessness

Our greatest challenge continues to be reducing the stigma about people experiencing homelessness. People become homeless for many reasons such as a lack of affordable housing, mental illness, substance abuse disorders, catastrophic illness, natural disasters, unemployment, or working low-wage jobs. They are individuals of all ages, colors, and abilities. They are all human beings, worthy of respect, dignity, and compassion.

Advancing mental health care to strengthen community

A community mental health center is a private not-for-profit with a public mission. We provide a core array of services to the general public — like emergency crisis services — and the treatments and programs that kids or adults need should they have a disabling mental health condition. We do things that no other healthcare provider can do.

Pride builds community, belonging
