Generous gift from MacKenzie Scott will help NH communities

National philanthropist and author donates $6 million into Community Crisis Action Fund, which is aiding in COVID relief and recovery. Every dollar donated to the fund supports nonprofits working in our communities.

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is deeply grateful for a contribution of $6 million to our Community Crisis Action Fund from philanthropist, writer and advocate MacKenzie Scott. We are humbled to be included among the organizations that she has identified this year for her transformative philanthropy. Established in March 2020, the Community Crisis Action Fund supports:

  • Grants to nonprofit organizations working on the front lines to reduce the pain and hardship from COVID-19 for our most vulnerable neighbors — food for hungry kids and seniors, shelter for homeless people and families, transportation, whatever assistance is needed wherever it is needed.
  • Initiatives and collaborations to help reduce the longer-term social and economic impacts of COVID-19 on critical systems such as health care, emergency response, child care and food security — especially for marginalized children and families.
  • Local emergency funds organized by other New Hampshire funders to get assistance directly to individuals and families who need it most.

With the addition of this extraordinary contribution, generous people have given more than $10 million to the Community Crisis Action Fund since March, every dollar of which is being put to work in the communities we serve. We are humbled and inspired by this generosity.
