Estate Giving

Plan now for giving that will have an enduring impact. We can work with you to create a plan that matches your charitable goals – in New Hampshire and beyond – while meeting your current needs.

Select a Planned giving option

Explore various giving options to find which best fits your philanthropic goals through gifts that pay income and gifts that protect assets.

Bequest

As part of your estate plan, you can specify a gift to the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in your will or trust. When you include the Foundation as part of your estate plans, you will become a member of our legacy society, The Spaulding-Potter Circle.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

You can make a plan to support the causes you care about in the future while you and/or other beneficiaries receive an income stream for life or a fixed number of years.

Charitable Gift Annuities

You can arrange for a future gift to help New Hampshire communities while receiving a fixed income stream for life.

Retirement plans

Leaving assets from a retirement plan to support charitable causes prevents double taxation of those funds. A charitable giving plan that leaves other assets to heirs and retirement plan assets to charity can maximize both tax benefits and charitable impact.

Life insurance

Planned gifts from life insurance are a simple way to make a significant charitable gift while achieving tax benefits during your lifetime.

Choose your fund type

We can help you decide which type of giving fund best matches your charitable goals and vision. You can name your fund, and can keep your giving anonymous if you wish. Or you may choose to contribute to an existing Foundation fund.

  • Donor-advised funds

Fund advisors choose which organizations to support, and when

Donor-advised funds organize giving through one expertly managed and cost-effective vehicle. Gifts qualify for an immediate tax deduction, and fund advisors can take their time, and take advantage of Foundation staff expertise, in deciding which organizations and issues to support.

    Online management options
We also offer online tools so advisors can manage funds online and find and fund grant opportunities.

    An alternative to private foundations
Donor-advised funds are also a simple and more cost-effective alternative to creating a private foundation, because we handle the administration – so advisors can focus on doing the giving that honors your legacy.

  • Scholarship funds

Help New Hampshire’s kids get the education they need to thrive

Scholarship funds help New Hampshire’s kids get the education they need to thrive in their careers and communities. The Foundation is the largest source of publicly-available scholarships in the state, administering 375 scholarship funds created by generous donors, and making awards to about 1,700 promising students every year.

  • Unrestricted funds

Give to strengthen New Hampshire communities

Unrestricted funds allow for broad support of community well-being and flexibility to meet the changing needs of our communities. Ideal for donors who want to build maximum versatility into their giving, and place responsibility with the Foundation to direct grants for maximum impact.

  • Field-of-interest funds

Support specific causes you care about

Field-of-interest funds help people passionate about an issue area – the environment, arts, children’s health – to provide support, through the Foundation’s grantmaking processes, for a variety of organizations and causes focusing on that issue.

  • Designated funds

Support a specific nonprofit organization doing great work

Designated funds support a specific nonprofit organization of your choice. In the event that the organization ceases operation, the Foundation will direct funds to another nonprofit that represents your charitable intentions.

Choose how to invest your gift

The Foundation invests philanthropic resources so that they grow over time and create the maximum charitable impact.
