The Carl T. Witherell Technical Honor Loan

When to apply?
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 for students planning to attend a post-secondary program in September.

Who should apply?

To be eligible for funding, students must be:

  • A graduate of the Lebanon, N.H., or Hartford, Vt., school systems:
  • Enrolling in any accredited technical post-secondary program, including certificate programs, associate degree programs and three-year degree programs. Priority is given to students pursuing an associate degree.
  • Pursuing technology-related bachelor’s degrees.  Fields of study may include, but are not limited to engineering, computer sciences, accounting, nursing, and other technology areas.
Selection criteria

The selection committee uses the following criteria when reviewing applications:

  • Is the student pursuing studies at the sub-baccalaureate level?
  • Does the student have a clear career path in a technical related field?
  • Does the student have the ability to successfully complete his or her academic goals?
  • Does the student have financial need?
Award availability
Grants are available to students each year for the duration of their full-time study (may be up to four years depending on the degree program). The average grant for any year is $3,000. The amount of an award is subject to the availability of funds and the demonstrated financial need of the applicant. Awards are paid in two equal installments in August and December. All checks are made co-payable to the student and his/her school. Students are encouraged to repay this award if their future financial circumstances permit.

Award decisions

If a student is selected as a finalist, further information is required, including the following: 

  • A copy of the letter of acceptance from the school you plan to attend.
  • A complete list of other scholarships and/or awards you have received.
  • A copy of your official high school transcript.
Applicants will be notified by early June.
